Made mainly out of wood, canvas and thatch – Sossus Dune lodge is not just unique and environmentally friendly – it’s one of our favourite lodges within the park. Located just 4 km in from the “Sesriem Gate” the lodge has fantastic views of the rolling dunes in the west and site at the base of the towering Naukluft Mountains, offering incredible and unprecedented views over one of Namibia’s unique vistas.
The lodge is particularly popular because it is located within the park, which means that guests can travel to the unbelievable Sossusvlei Dunes before sunrise and stay there after sunset ensuring that they get the best out of their day trip to these iconic desert monoliths.
Their chalets are based of the Ovambo traditional houses that are found in northern Namibia and are on stilted wooden frames, have canvas walls and a thatch roof. The rooms to the left of the main lodge have got a beautiful view of the dunes, and the others on the right have stunning panoramas of the mountains and canyons.
Each room has the following:
Chalets and the main lodge are all connected with wooden walkways that allow easy movement between all the following facilities:
There is plenty to do at the lodge other than relaxing in the swimming pool in the heat of the day:
