Okaukuejo Camp

Etosha National Park

Okaukuejo Camp

Situated just on the other side of the famous Andersson’s Gate is the oldest tourist camp in Etosha National Park. Not only does Okaukuejo provide great visitor facilities, it also acts as the parks administrative hub and is home to the Etosha Ecological Institute. This great facility is located right on the Western edge of the Etosha Pan.

The iconic stone tower was added to the rest camp in 1963, but the camp itself was originally a military outpost that was founded in 1901. The main attraction for visitors is the camps proximity to the huge pan – which is one of the best spots for wildlife watching in the entire park. At night the pan is lit up by a floodlight that allows guest some amazing night time viewing – black rhinos being particularly popular.

A well-established restaurant and bar offers guests cold drinks and delicious cuisine, and the camp’s swimming pool offers cool respite in the heat of the day.
