Ngepi Camp

Ngepi Camp

Most people associate the Okavango Delta with Botswana, but the upper reaches of the Okavango Delta’s panhandle also extends up into the Zambezi (formerly Caprivi) region in Namibia. Situated on an island in the waterlogged, swampy plains surrounding the Kavango River you will find Ngepi Camp.

This is a beautiful and unique lodge that is eco-friendly and environmentally conscious. The main lodge area has a kitchen, restaurant, dining room and bar that overlook beautiful river views. The swimming pool is as different and unique as the lodge itself – a cage set in the river that keeps out hippos and crocodiles. It’s safe, secure and awesome to spend time swimming in the river itself.

The camp is in close proximity to Mahango National Park and Bwabwata National Park and it is a central location to either stop over on the way or a base to visit the parks on day trips. The shady trees, seasonal swamps and plentiful water make a perfect habitat for mammals large and small.

There are two options for accommodation at Ngepi:

  • Tree houses: Built around sturdy trees with thatched rooves and river reed walls – most of the tree houses have beautiful elevated views over the river. Double, triple and family rooms are available and each has an en-suite bathroom with an outside shower and most have braai areas.
  • Bush huts: These huts have two half-walled rooms with one double and one twin being the norm. The rustic but charming huts have open air bathrooms and braai facilities. While they don’t look over the river, each has their own private garden.
